How It Works

How much space does a tennis court require?

The playing area is 78 ft x 36 ft for doubles, but the full build footprint needs at least 60 x 120 ft to allow safe run-off space around the court. Sloped or irregular ground may require additional clearing to reach that usable area.

Should I choose an asphalt or concrete base?

Asphalt is more forgiving on unstable or expansive soils and costs less upfront; concrete is harder, more dimensionally stable, and suits sites with firm, well-drained subgrade. The local builder confirms the right choice after evaluating soil condition and drainage gradient on-site.

Does the site need drainage work before installation?

Usually yes. If water collects in low spots or the ground is not level, a subsurface drainage system is designed before base construction begins. Adding drainage after the slab is poured is far more disruptive and costly.

What happens if I delay fixing a cracked or uneven court?

Water enters the sub-base through surface cracks. Freeze-thaw cycles in northern climates widen those cracks each winter, turning what would have been a resurfacing job into a full base rebuild. Acting before the base is compromised keeps the scope and cost smaller.

Can an old court be resurfaced instead of rebuilt?

If the existing base is structurally sound and drains correctly, a new acrylic coating may be enough. Widespread cracking, settlement, or standing water after rain usually points to a base problem that resurfacing alone will not fix.

What does the written estimate include?
