How It Works

Can a worn track just be resurfaced, or does it need a full rebuild?

If the asphalt or concrete base is structurally sound, resurfacing is a viable option. If the base shows cracking, soft spots, or drainage failure, a new topcoat will not hold, the base work has to be addressed first. The on-site evaluation determines which path is appropriate.

What is the difference between a polyurethane surface and a tartan surface?

Polyurethane is a poured-in-place bound rubber system applied directly over the prepared base. Tartan is a pre-fabricated synthetic sheet system. Performance, installation method, and cost differ between the two; the right choice depends on use level, climate, and whether the track is for training or competition.

What happens if we delay resurfacing a cracked or pooling track?

Water entering the sub-base through surface cracks accelerates base deterioration. Freeze-thaw cycles in northern climates widen cracks quickly, turning a straightforward resurfacing job into a full base repair and rebuild. Delaying one season can significantly increase the total scope and cost.

How does site grading affect the total project cost?

Sites that need significant earthworks to correct slope or drainage add base preparation cost before any surface system is specified. The on-site evaluation identifies grading requirements early so the itemised estimate reflects the actual site conditions, not a best-case assumption.

Does a 400-meter track always require an 8-lane layout?

No. Lane count depends on the facility’s intended use and available footprint. A school training track may use fewer lanes; a competition facility typically uses eight. Lane count, curve geometry, and runoff area dimensions are all confirmed during the site assessment and layout planning stage.

What does the final walkthrough cover?

The walkthrough checks lane line accuracy, runoff area finish, surface slope, and drainage function against the agreed specification. Any items that do not meet the spec are addressed before the project is closed.
